Some Personal Reflection on Thanksgiving 2010

Many times during the year, I find it necessary to just sit back and reflect on the many things I'm grateful for in life and how far God has brought me. But on Thanksgiving Day as I sit here next to Becca, watching the football game and posting some Thanksgiving cheer to my friends, I find it's time I voice some of the things I'm thankful for and perhaps it will cause you some personal reflection time, too.

While I was home alone this morning, I posted to Becca's wall the she is my greatest blessing in the world, I must acknowledge and give thanks to One Who is Greater and without Whom, I would not have my relationship with Becca or anything else in life today. To you, Lord Jesus...my Father in Heaven, be all praise and glory as well as my continous gratitude.

What are you grateful for today? For me, there are many things and I'd like to list at least ten(10)for you and in turn I'd ask that you write down 10 of your own which perhaps you'll share with me....or perhaps you won't.

I'm thankful for:

1. The salvation from Jesus that assures me by His blood that my soul has been washed clean and that I can share eternity with Him.

2. For Becca and that we are like "two peas in a pod".

3. For my family.....my brother, Stephen and his wife Laurie, for my son, Brian Shawn, his wife, Jen and my grandson, Anthony.

4. For 13+ years of sobriety and the realization that it is only by God's grace that I continue day by day to grow in it.

5. My job and that I enjoy immensely what I do during economic times where I realize, too, that I could just as easily be among those who have no work and struggle daily to figure out how they'll keep a roof over their heads/food on the table.

6. For the home I have and for the food I eat....On this day, we give thanks with a feast, but we remember that there are many who go hungry yet in this world, too.

7. For friends who encourage me and who don't let me take myself too seriously.

8. For the country I live in and the freedoms we have or fight for in maintaining them. Let us never forget that there are many who do not even have the right to pray openly or to voice dissent.

9. For the men & women who serve in the military for our country and lay thier lives on the line daily to preserve the freedoms we have. For all who've served and will serve and my gratitude that I've been able to serve, as well.

10. For our political processes and our government that while not perfect is subject to the mandate of We the People and that so many take their responsibilities as citizens seriously enough to speak up/stand up to be counted when something is not right. From that, a huge gratitude for all of the wonderful people I've come to meet in the process.

So there you have it my friends....I ask again..What are you thankful? I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and God's blessings upon all of you. My thanks to you all for your friendship and fellowship. May you have safe travels and a plentiful feast on this day and everyday.

Fall Brings Football, Politics & Elections

As I sit here on a Sunday morning having a bowl of squash soup and thinking about politics of the day and football of the afternoon....Becca works diligently in the kitchen making homemade apple sauce and apple crostada from the apples we hand picked at the orchard down the road and yummy smells permeate everything. Here I am, too, saying a silent prayer that Americans don't get overly distracted with all of the other things amongst fall festivals and sports to remember our very lives/way of life is on the line coming up on Nov 2nd.
It's true folks, look at all that's going on...Oktoberfest was just held in Appleton Friday & Saturday; Apple picking & pumpkin harvesting are underway; Halloween is on the way! Besides that, we've got college football(the Badgers won yesterday), NFL football(Packers vs Bears in Monday Night Football....Go Packers!!), The Chase for the Cup in NASCAR, and I still want to get out and play some more golf before the snow flies(Sorry for that dirtly little four letter word, folks. It won't happen again!)
So....tell me, please....Tell me that with all that's going on that you won't disregard the politics of the day and our upcoming elections on Nov 2nd! Are you fed up enough with the "business as usual" and corruption that run amok in our state & federal governments. Honestly? I sometimes think there are those of you out there paying "lip service" to it all, but haven't got the foggiest idea of who you're going to vote for yet or what these candidates stand for. Believe me....I know you all have alot on your plates with work (or lack thereof it), family and kids, after-school activities...BUT, can you afford to "wing it" and get down to Nov 1st and say, "Holy crap! What now??..Who the hell are all of these people and what are we going to do now?"
Let's see...We've got the Democratic Party (Lefties & crooks--the bunch of them), the Republican Party(the Grand Olde Party...running from lukewarm to red-hot anything from moderate to right wing---yes, I'm sure we've got some crooks and just too comfortably entrenched folks, too), Libertarians(God help me, I don't know much about them and don't want to), and the Tea Party( a group of common men, Constitutionalist and Patriots who've had enough and say business as usual is just not going to get it any more). A plethora of choices, yes, but also, some very smart choices, as well as, so-so choices and lousy choices. Can you differentiate the differences?
What issues are most important for you? Are you Pro-Life and wanting to stop abortion? Are you for Nullification and States' Rights? How about Immigration or Health Care reform or the Repeal of things passed or still pending? 2nd Amendment Rights and against the government's attempts at grabbing those rights and your guns?
OR are you simply fed up and determined not to let Socialists and Communist continue their power grab and destruction of our American way of life? We've all got our "issues" and opinions on them......My point is that you need to decide your points, stand on those points and make your choices. It's time for America to unite and stop all of this racist, divisive bickering that's driving America into the ground and splitting the parties....I won't tell you how to vote any more than you can tell me. But I'm proud to be American and we need to save the ability to be that first....and then we can get out and change the rest.
See you on election day....Take your "responsibilities" seriously....Have fun with the new season of fall and all of it's activities, but do your due diligence and exercise your rights as a citizen to make a difference and bring about the changes America so desperately needs. Vote once and NOT OFTEN like some of our Democratic countrymen will attempt to do in usurping the laws with illegals and dead folks included in the balloting.

Did Andrew Breitbart Lay A Trap For Sherrod's Fraud... Unbelievable!

I posted this on my page a few days ago and got so much feedback in the way of comments and "like" that I'm putting this out on the blog now as a way of hopefully getting it "viral" and expanding exposure of the story. Please pass this on to anyone and everyone and perhaps one day we can get the MSM to pay attention and really expose the corruption and racism run rampant in our current government.

Andrew Breitbart is a media genius.
by Robert W. Fortner

He proved it originally with his brilliant handling of the ACORN ‘hooker’ scandal which he skillfully manipulated so that the corrupt media was forced, against its will, to broadcast corruption in one of Obama’s most powerful political support groups. But Breitbart’s handing of that affair is nothing compared to his brilliant manipulation of the Shirley Sherrod ‘white farmer’ scandal.

It all began last Monday, July 22, 2010. As the country watched in horror, Breitbart released a snippet of a tape on his “Big Government” site which showed an obscure black female official of the Dept. of Agriculture laughing to a roomful of NAACP members about how she’d discriminated against a destitute white farmer and refused to give him the financial aid he desperately needed. As she smirked to the room, she’d sent him instead to a white lawyer – ‘one of his own kind’ – for help. The black woman was Shirley Sherrod – and almost immediately she became the center of a firestorm of controversy which exploded throughout the country. Within a day of the release of that infamous tape, the head of the Dept. of Agriculture, spurred on by Obama, demanded – and received – Sherrod’s resignation. Breitbart had won.

But then seemingly Breitbart’s actions began to explode in his face. As Sherrod screamed in protest, FOX News released the entire text of her speech last March to the NAACP. And there on tape Sherrod was shown supposedly repenting of her racism against a white farmer and instead championing his fight to win funds to keep his farm afloat. Within hours of that entire tape being revealed, the entire world turned against Andrew Breitbart. Conservatives throughout the country were enraged that he’d endangered their reputations by releasing a ‘doctored’ tape. Breitbart, they thundered, had dealt a fatal blow to the conservative media. I confess that I also was horrified at what I saw as the clumsiness and stupidity of Breitbart in ‘doctoring’ a tape to make a supposedly innocent woman look guilty. But now I discover I have been as guilty of haste to judgment of Breitbart as the Dept. of Agriculture was of Ms. Sherrod.

Only now am I realizing the real purpose for Breitbart’s release of that tape snippet. It was to allow him to cunningly trick the media into exposing one of the most shocking examples of corruption in the federal government – a little known legal case called “Pigford v. Glickman”.

http://pajamasmedia.com/zombie/2010/07/27/pigford-v-glickman-86000-claims-from-39697-total-farmers/?singlepage=true

“In 1997, 400 African-American farmers sued the United States Department of Agriculture, alleging that they had been unfairly denied USDA loans due to racial discrimination during the period 1983 to 1997.” The case was entitled “Pigford v. Glickman” and in 1999, the black farmers won their case. The government agreed to pay each of them as much as $50,000 to settle their claims.

But then on February 23 of this year, something shocking happened in relation to that original judgment. In total silence, the USDA agreed to release more funds to “Pigford”. The amount was a staggering $1.25 billion. This was because the original number of plaintiffs – 400 black farmers – had now swollen in a class action suit to include a total of 86,000 black farmers throughout America.

There was only one teensy problem. The United States of America doesn’t have 86,000 black farmers. According to accurate and totally verified census data, the total number of black farmers throughout America is only 39,697. Oops.

Well, gosh – how on earth did 39,697 explode into 86,000 claims? And how did $50,000 explode into $1.25 billion? Well, folks, you’ll just have to ask the woman who not only spearheaded this case because of her position in 1997 at the “Rural Development Leadership Network” but whose family received the highest single payout (approximately $13 million) from that action – Shirley Sherrod. Oops again.

http://beforeitsnews.com/story/110/024/Is_There_More_to_Sherrods_Dismissal.html

Yes, folks. It appears that Ms. Sherrod had just unwittingly exposed herself as the perpetrator of one of the biggest fraud claims in the United States – a fraud enabled solely because she screamed racism at the government and cowed them into submission. And it gets even more interesting. Ms. Sherrod has also exposed the person who aided and abetted her in this race fraud. As it turns out, the original judgment of “Pigford v. Glickman” in 1999 only applied to a total of 16,000 black farmers. But in 2008, a junior Senator got a law passed to reopen the case and allow more black farmers to sue for funds. The Senator was Barack Obama.

Because this law was passed in dead silence and because the woman responsible for spearheading it was an obscure USDA official, American taxpayers did not realize that they had just been forced in the midst of a worldwide depression to pay out more than $1.25 billion to settle a race claim.

But Breitbart knew. And last Monday, July 22, 2010, he cleverly laid a trap which Sherrod – and Obama – stumbled headfirst into which has now resulted in the entire world discovering the existence of this corrupt financial judgment. Yes, folks – Breitbart is a genius.

As for Ms. Sherrod? Well, she’s discovered too late that her cry of ‘racism’ to the media which was intended to throw the spotlight on Breitbart has instead thrown that spotlight on herself – and her corruption. Sherrod has vanished from public view. Her ‘pigs’, it seems, have come home to roost. Oink!
